Mäni’s on Fairfax has enrolled in the City Of LA’s program to recycle food waste from restaurants. What this means is that we now recycle about 90% of all refuse. Our green plastic waste bins contain all food waste and all other biodegradable consumables such as paper, cardboard, waxed milk and soy containers, newpapers, etc. In our blue bins, we also recycle plastics, glass, metal etc.
That leaves about 10% or less pure trash. The company Norcal Waste, is a city contractor, to help LA create compost from solid waste which otherwise would take up space in landfills.
And this even saves money, since the compost is later sold and used as organic compost.
Send me an email if you’d like more information on how Mäni’s on Fairfax is working to help us all be greener!
The sound of a new musician will fill the air this Tuesday night...Come hear the change in music and try another of your favotire desserts!
Tuesday Night Dinner, Dessert and Music has been amazing! Thanks to everyone who is coming out and having dinner with Mäni’s!
This Tuesday will be no different. Come in between 5pm and 10pm, order any meal from the menu, and your dessert is on the house.
And if that wasn’t enough, this week we will be featuring the sounds of Keegan Anglim, another local musician from the USC Thorton School of Music.
Keegan Anglim moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to study jazz guitar at the University of Southern California. At age 24, he holds a Bachelor of Music and is presently pursuing a Master of Music at USC. While at the university,
Keegan had the benefit of studying with many talented guitarists such as Frank Potenza, Richard Smith, Pat Kelly, and bebop virtuoso Bruce Forman. Keegan’s style comes from a wide range of artists and genres from pop to bebop. He takes an introspective and sensitive approach to improvisation as well as his original compositions.
Please let us know what you think of our live music. Comment below or in person on Tuesday night! See you then.

Aaron is showing his excitement over our new citrus juicer recently imported from the EU. Made in Spain, and in our opinion, one of the finest citrus juicers available. Our intention is to squeeze organic valencia oranges. We’ll take advantage of our fantastic local crops, then switch to organic Mexican varieties in winter.
GOOD AND GOOD FOR YOU
Citrus provides high levels of anti-oxidants, vitamins such as C. 12 ounces of orange juice contains approximately 110% of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of vitamin C, plus vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, calcium, folic acid, iron, magnesium and potassium. And it tastes like heaven -)
Perhaps if you were at this wedding in Pasadena this week-end you could have seen and tasted this elegant, gorgeous cake. If not, maybe you’ll see one of Kristina’s creations at another wedding soon!

You may have heard us mentioned during KCRW’s recent fund drive. That’s because we feed the volunteers that help the station raise money. Each day Mäni’s provides muffins, turnovers, scones and other bakery items to fill the tummies of those at KCRW working hard to make this season’s membership drive a big success.
We also donate Mäni’s cards, our gift card, so KCRW can award them to subscribers who make contributions.
It’s a win-win situation that we’re thrilled about. The radio station raises money and continues to produce and broadcast fantastic news and event coverage, and we feel good supporting them and folks listening get to hear about what we’re doing as well.
So to all of you who listen to KCRW and support them, we say THANKS!

Sometimes I like to share a wonderful product with everyone. This is one of those products.
Pomegranates have become quite popular and its juice produces high levels of polyphenols and ellagic acid which are protective antioxidants. Some say that its properties may be more powerful than green tea. Plus it tastes great.
So all this good stuff and our juice bar won’t even be up and running for at least another week!
August may be the month to make a special visit to Mäni’s on Fairfax. Our new menu will be out shortly, our new colors are gleaming, there’s new staff to meet and all those great products both in the restaurant and the bakery. So ENJOY and EAT WELL!
