Check out our new vegan Golden Coconut cake! Super moist yellow with a light, fluffy coconut frosting. Yum! Sweetened with fruit juice and agave. Also available as the cutest Coconut Cupcake ever! Also wowing us (and tempting us on a minute-to-minute basis) are our new Vegan Brownies. Sweetened with organic cane. You’d never guess that not only are these brownies vegan, but they are made with whole wheat and brown rice flours! No white stuff in there. Super rich and moist, they come in walnut and vegan ganache-topped versions. Don’t miss our Vegan Cheesecake! It’s sweetened with fruit juice and has an awesome, crumbly almond crust. It’s gluten-free, to boot!

Mäni’s has donated a few of our favorite products (Carrot Raisin and Chocolate Raspberry Fortress Cakes, Peanut Butter Bites) to Michelle Cozens’ Bake For The Quake bake sale for Haiti relief. If you are in the LA area today, please go check it out and show your support with your purchase of a baked good! You can also bring goods to donate. All proceeds go to the American Red Cross. Visit today from 1 to 4pm at EAST Restaurant @ 6611 Hollywood Blvd (Hollywood & Cherokee).

According to an article published in the Los Angeles Times on Monday, January 11, 2009, natural products made from whole grains are most likely our best source of dietary fiber. The story All fibers may not be created equal points out that natural grains are the most reliable source of dietary fiber when juxtaposed with the latest wave of products to have lab-made fibers added. It is not yet clear, says the article, whether these fiber sources (like maltodextrin and polydextrose, which are being pumped into yogurts, breakfast cereals, etc.) are as efficient as their naturally occurring counterparts in achieving the health benefits associated with fiber intake.
Here at Mäni’s, we are focused on providing our customers with natural sources of fiber via our many products made with whole grains. Below are listed some of our whole grain products, and check out the LA Times article for more information on why you may want to rely on natural whole grains instead of producs with “fiber added”! Here are some of our items made with whole grains: 9 grain rolls Whole wheat crackers Whole wheat bread (sliced) Carrot Cake with oat flour Chocolate chip cookies with whole wheat flour All of our muffins (Blueberry Almond, Morning Glory, Pumpkin Cranberry, Banana Pecan, Hi-Protein, even Chocolate Chip!) Turnovers (made with oat flour) Quinoa in our salads and Tabouli Mini-Wraps Multi-grain pancakes And that’s just the start of the list! Look for the whole wheat/whole grain designation on our menu and in our bakery cases.
