Q: Do You Have A Web Site?

ANSWER:  We have brand new website that hasn't even launched yet.  It will be released in a couple of weeks.  Sign up for our weekly Morsel newsletter, and you'll be notified as soon as it reaches cyber-space.

In the meantime this blog posts articles about Mäni's on Fairfax weekly.  We also have general information about our company as well as our bakery and cafe menus in downloadable pdf format.

Q: Do You Take Reservations?

ANSWER: Mäni's has a "first come- first seated" policy. At certain times it is necessary for us to keep a waiting list for Table Service.

However, if you are somewhat flexible with your time, we'll be happy to suggest off peak times when immediate seating is more likely. (Of course, we can never guarantee how busy we will be at any given time.)

You may call us at (323) 938-8800 ext:44. We'll do our best to accommodate you!

Q: Do You Deliver?

ANSWER: At this time we don't offer a delivery service, BUT don't worry, we work with LA Bite.

Through LA Bite you can order Mäni's and they'll bring it to you.

If you don't have a copy of our To-Go Menu you can download it off this site.

You can also order at labite.com.  You'll be able to choose our menu items right online.

Of course, you're also encouraged to stop in and pick one up and have a sample of baked goodness.

Log on to LA Bite at www.labite.com or call (310) 441-BITE also (818) 205- 0500.

Q: Do you have Gift Certificates?

ANSWER: We have something even better called a Mäni's Card. A Mäni's Card is a card about the size of a credit card and functions similarly as well.

The value of each card is determined by the purchaser. It can have any value, say 5 dollars or 100 dollars, it's up to you!

When the card is empty it can be recharged; so that you never have to worry about passing Mäni's without money!

Mäni's Cards are available with a gift card holder which explains a bit of Mäni's philosophy and an envelope.  Available in-store or online.

Q: Why is there a tax difference between to-go and dine in?

Answer: Sales Tax laws govern how we tax our products and our service. Bakery items, for example, are not taxed, unless you sit down.  We are required under California State Sales Tax Laws to charge each customer sales tax on all items consumed at a table. All prepared foods are always taxed and bakery and snack items are sales tax exempt when taken off premises for consumption.  Our cash registers are programmed accordingly.

Q: Do you have low calorie products?

Answer: Overall, Mäni's does not focus on low calorie or low fat. Our goal is to provide our guests with more nutritious versions of traditional baking. However, we will work with our guests to find a suitable option that meets your dietary needs.

Q: Can you bake an item without certain ingredients?

Answer: In most cases, we cannot make individual items without specific ingredients. However, if a guest is purchasing an order that is large enough to fill a complete recipe, we may be able to prepare and bake their order separately. We can leave off toppings. (i.e. nuts, frosting etc.) If you have any questions, please just ask us. Come in, or call us at 323.938.8800 ext. 44!

Q: Why do you get rid of popular bakery items?

Answer: Since we have been around for over 15 years, our ingredients and their availability change. For example, many of you may remember the Vanilla Cream Heart Cookie. Our chocolate company stopped making the vanilla chip (barley malt sweetened), and thus we had to discontinue that product. Other times, what one customer really loves may not sell that much; and it becomes difficult to maintain that item in the front bakery case. We want to have great options for everyone!

Q: Why did you stop carrying Coca-Cola products?

Answer: Several months ago, Mäni's decided to take our sodas to the next level. Because we want to provide our customers with healthier alternatives, we chose to bring in a soda with no preservatives and no high fructose corn syrup. For those concerned with calories, we still offer the Diet Coke in glass bottles.

Q: Can I order food from the counter and sit down at a table?

Answer: During kitchen hours(see below), the cafe is primarily table service. Sometimes, during off peak times, we allow guests to order bakery items from the counter and sit at a table. This is with the understanding that if it gets busy, we may need the table for a guest who is ordering from the kitchen. Some items are only taxed if you sit at a table and "dine in".

The kitchen hours are: Sunday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Friday-Saturday  8:00 a.m. to Midnight

FAQ: Can Diabetics Eat Your Baked Goods?

That depends on several factors.  One is whether or not you are exchanging your foods.  Diabetics are often put on a diet where they can have a certain amount of fruits, carbs and fats in a day.  For example if you decide to eat an apple, that would account for a certain amount of daily fruit grams.

Generally diabetics are told not to consume processed cane sugar.  At Mäni's our products are made with the following sweeteners:  fruit juice reduction, barley malt, agave, maple, date sugar, organic sugar.  We've been told that diabetics should avoid sugar and maple.

American Diabetes Association for more info.
